3D graphics has interested me since I owned my first computer. It was only when I discoverd Blender3D that I was able to indulge in learning the craft of 3D graphics, animation and game creation. I was able to learn this software thanks to the large and growing number of high quality online tutorials, books and thriving online community.

Game Models Accepted by Unity3d Asset Store

Finally I got around to creating my first game model for sale in an online model asset store. I chose to create models for the Unity3d game engine (although the models will work with many other game engines). Unity3d has an integrated store in their game editor so game makers can browse and buy models for their games without leaving the application.

For my first model I thought I’d play it safe and create the classic concrete barrier that appears in most first-person-shooters. Even though this is a very simple type of model I wanted to ensure it was as high quality as it could be. So I sculpted the details of a plain and damaged barrier using Blender3d’s sculpting tools and backed the details into the nomal maps. This provides a high level of detail for a low poly model. Here is the final result in a model sheet.

You can view this model package in the asset store.
